After training humans in gymnastics for decades, I transitioned to training dogs. First, I worked at PetSmart in Boulder, CO, where I learned effective positive reinforcement / clicker training techniques. I led group and private classes, touching the lives of hundreds of pets and their parents. In February of 2024, I attended an intensive Dog Trainer College at Conifer Canines in Indiana where I sharpened my skills in advanced training techniques, including e-Collar, prong collar, and a touch of police dog training. I continue to pursue diverse training techniques to meet each dog with the right approach.
You may be surprised to find me in Boulder, Colorado and San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato (Mexico)! My wife and dog don’t do cold weather, so we’re frequently back and forth. 😉 Please reach out to inquire about my schedule and current location.
While I maintain a busy workload, I always keep space for new clientele so I can help as many dogs as possible. Contact me to check my availability.
Yes! Well, maybe. It depends on what you want your dog to do!
Example 1: Imagine you have a Border Collie (let’s call him Bob) destroying your house. You want to train Bob to “be good.” Yes, we can train Bob to “be good,” but not without a firm commitment on your part to exercise him several times a day (or hire someone to do it for you).
Example 2: Consider Molly the Dachshund. You want her to sit because other dogs do it. However, the position may not be comfortable for her due to Dachshunds’ long backs. Perhaps we need to adjust that expectation to a lie-down position.
In short, it’s important to understand your dog, provide support, and have reasonable expectations. Additionally, you need to embrace that dog training is a joint effort. If you follow through and continually reinforce the practices I provide to you, your dog will do great!

I know you’re asking me for an average, so I’ll give you one: 4-6 weeks with 2-4 sessions a week. However, every dog is different. Some dogs grasp new behaviors quickly, and pet parents are diligent in reinforcing what I teach. In these scenarios, the time to train a dog is dramatically reduced.
